Parks & Playgrounds

Iron County has a variety of public recreational areas, most of which are located on our beautiful lakes.

Bewabic State Park – Located on the north and west shores of Fortune Lake, right off US 2. Activities includes swimming, boating, fishing, tennis. There is a daily/seasonal fee.

Pentoga Park – A county park on the south shore of Chicaugon lake. The entrance is off County Road 424, about halfway between Gaastra and Alpha. A large grassy area, playground equipment, beach, campground and Indian burial grounds. There is a daily/ seasonal fee.

Runkle Lake Park – A city park on the west shore, north of M-69 and a few blocks east of the Paint River. A campground (57 units), baseball diamonds, tennis courts, several buildings and sandy beach.

Nelson Field – On Evergreen St just east of Washington Ave in Iron River with tennis courts, basketball court, picnic tables, playground and a walking track around the football field.
