Iron County Watershed Coalition

This group is raising awareness and doing projects to protect one of our most vital natural resources – Iron County’s lakes & rivers.

There are 7 major watersheds contributing to a hydrologic river basin, and all eventually end up in Lake Superior, Lake Michigan and the Mississippi River.

Threats to the purity of our watersheds include inadequate sewer/septic systems, unmanaged soil erosion, improper use of fertilizers and pesticides, invasive species, and careless disposal of petroleum products.
