After a couple hours of playing the intense poker game at the Boyington Hotel, Hughitt and Scaddon pretended they were tired and headed up to their rooms. Once they were sure that no one was watching them they ran over to the temporary courthouse and found the records easily. The sheriff had been so excited to watch the poker game he had forgotten about locking the safe. So they took the records in their hands and hurried to the train station.

As they waited for the train they feared the possibility of angry people from Iron River running after them, but to their luck they safetly hopped on the train and made it to Crystal Falls. There they met the sheriff of Crystal Falls, who locked the records securely away until the county seat election.

How do you think the people from Iron River felt when Hughitt and Scaddon stole the records?

Why didn't the Iron River people go back and get the records since they were rightfully theirs?

Why didn't the Crystal Falls people get in trouble?
