The Annual Meeting of the Board of the Iron County Watershed Coalition will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017 in the Community Room of the West Iron District Library in Iron River, Michigan. This meeting is open to the public. The Board Meeting agenda will include: a brief annual report by the president; a report of the nominating committee; the election of board members; the election of officers; and other business as may come before the Board. This meeting will be followed at 5:30 p.m. by a presentation by Dr. Gene E. Likens, world-renowned ecologist, and one of the discoverers of acid rain in North America. His talk is entitled: Environmental Understandings Gained from the Watershed-Ecosystems Approach. At 6:30 pm. Purdue University Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences students will summarize their recent findings related to the impact of past mining activities on habitat quality, fish and macro-invertebrates sampled from the Iron River.
