 The Iron County Board of Commissioners are responsible to appoint medical examiners for service to Iron County. Dr. Nasseem F. Rizkalla is Iron County's Medical Examiner.

All area doctors are appointed, and may serve as deputy medical examiners if they so choose.

Medical Examiners are called to certify the cause of death, outside of the hospital, by the law enforcement agencies. They are responsible to ascertain the cause of death and order an autopsy, if necessary, to determine the cause of the death.
